Description

Earth Day 2020 (50th Anniversary) - Poem

On the darkest day of death in April
I dared to slip out in to the sun
To break free from shelter's chains
I walked alone the streets of silence
A rising spirit moving toward the sea.
The waves still crashed along the shore
The sands still shifted beside my steps
The winds of Spring blew through the path
Newborn flowers arose beneath the clouds.
All along the mysterious road
The air was soothed with song of birds
The river ran deep among the rocks
Perhaps the moment came true and clear
Seeing the Earth alive,
Its power and beauty are always here
Respect your planet when you return from fear.
