Digging the Foundation

Here is a second photo showing the work involved in digging the foundation for the New Haven Free Public Library. This photo was taken from east of the Ives branch site. This photo gives us a good view of the New Haven Green at the time, and of some of the churches on the Green. Behind the Green, the eastern side of Yale University's Old Campus is also visible.
